Our hope is that each of us can re-create that familiar scene in Bethlehem in our own lives and in our families. Each of us has a star to follow just as the Wise Men did. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Ps. 119:105.) We can kneel at the feet of our Savior just as the shepherds and the Wise Men did when we pray. The gifts we give are the service we render in his behalf in building up the Kingdom of God. We can shout “Hosanna” like that angelic choir and spread the good news by bearing our testimonies. By works of righteousness, we can come unto Him each day of our lives just as if we had trod in our sandaled feet the rocky path to Bethlehem, holding a staff or bearing gifts.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas this year, and are so grateful for all our friends and family! Especially this year with the wedding, Kenny and I had each of our sisters and brothers there which meant so much to us, we had friends travel from California and Texas to be there and just an outpouring of love and help from our ward family who worked for many hours to make it a special day for us!

We got a new bishop, who we just love, he was the YM President so our boys just love him already! His vision for our ward is to Quadruple the Love in our homes.....they have talked about it in sacrament meeting, the boys have had a fireside about it, and we have followed up with a family home evening! so the new saying in the follett house especially when mom starts getting a little crazy about someone's behavior is "Quadruple the Love...Mom" or "4X the LOVE baby!"....somehow hoping that this will help them with getting in trouble....actually i think it does....how can you be angry or not forgiving when you are reminded to quadruple the love(Patience, long suffering, gentle, temperate)? This has become so enduring in our home that i asked kelsi to draw something and im going to make t-shirts for everyone for christmas!

We had a relief society activity about the four different seasons, and they asked me to talk about Fall, activities to do with your family, holidays etc... I love the fall and this was a great opportunity for me to remember why I love the Fall, it's all about the GATHERING!

I love the imagery of the spiritual gathering that is taking place with the beginning of the restoration of the gospel and i was reminded with doing this class about the Feast of Trumpets that is celebrated by the Jewish people for centuries. Most of us know and recognize that the early harvest which occurs in the springtime along with Passover represents the Lord’s first coming, his death, crucifixion and resurrection.

Ancient Israel and those of the Jewish faith today celebrate three holy days or “holidays” in the fall, the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). Together they are called by Jews the “High Holy Days.” These holy days have an important relationship to the Lord’s spiritual gathering in the latter days. “For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not” (D&C 4:4).

Many Jewish scholars believe that the final spiritual gathering of Israel would begin with the Feast of Trumpets also known as the Day of Remembrance. The Lord commanded Israel to blow trumpets on this day so Israel would remember that their God delivered them out of bondage from Egypt, and ultimately that their God the Great Jehovah would deliver them from the bondage of sin and for God to remember his ancient covenants with Israel. The sound of the “shofar, ”or ram’s horn calls for Israel to repent and prepare for the King’s coming, for new revelation and for the beginning of Israel’s final harvest.

It is not by coincidence that the golden plates were delivered to Joseph Smith early in the morning of 22 September 1827 the same day as the Jewish people celebrated The Feast of Trumpets. Israel’s trumpets sounded throughout the world with prayers pleading for God to remember his people, a call for new revelation and the beginning of the gathering of Israel.

“Unknown to Judah, all that those horns represented was now to be fulfilled. For on that day, God remembered His people and set in motion His plan to regather them. On that day, God’s final harvest began. On that day, new revelation was granted which would bring a return to renewed covenants. From that day onward, Israel would be called to repentance in preparation for Christ’s return and reign. The Book of Mormon exists to serve these ends. Today, Moroni’s image trumpets from temple spires around the world a final call to awaken, repent, and prepare. For Latter-day Saints, knowing this is the final harvest with an ever-shortening time to labor should further motivate us to thrust in our sickles with our might. In the fall we gather for General Conference as a world wide church to listen to the wonderful and inspired messages from the Prophet and and apostles....it is one of our families most loved time of the year! one of my favorites... http://lds.org/general-conference/2011/10/waiting-upon-the-lord-thy-will-be-done?lang=eng Im not really good with waiting for anything...ask my kids they never move fast enough for me...but this really pricked my heart that we must learn to "wait upon the Lord" In the scriptures, the word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end.

We gather our harvest and crops from our gardens....kenny harvested alot of pumpkins and tomatoes this year! We lived off of pumpkin bread and salsa! but is also a time for farmer's markets and State fairs!

We gather our family together for the World Series(at least us baseball families)and college football....and loved having the college kids down from USU for fall break (ashley, spencer, Kylee and a few others) while we watched the Texas Rangers almost beat the Cardinals!

We gather as wards and families for Halloween and share fun and candy! Nothing cuter than little ones gathering at your door dressed as princesses and pirates saying "trick or treat" and being so excited that you gave them a sucker.

We gather together the first tuesday of the month of November to vote and elect those individuals we want to represent us...we are so lucky to live in this country! Then we celebrate the Marine Corp B-day and Veteran's day and give thanks for all those who have sacrificed that we might have our liberties and freedom!

We gather our families together to give thanks for all our many blessings and especially for each other....we had a wonderful thanksgiving with Kenny's sister Jackie and her family this year. It has been a really hard time for her with some health issues and it caused us, especially kenny, to think how grateful he is for his parents and brothers and sisters. They are a wonderful family and his sister Jackie and her husband were so wonderful to us when Kenny lost his job and got a new one here in Utah, he came and lived with them for a few months which was such a blessing for us! Jackie is the oldest and Kenny the youngest and kenny said it gave them a chance to reconnect in away that usually adult siblings don't usually get to do! We had a wonderful thanksgiving, and we are so happy Jackie is doing better and thankful for her fun family that we love especially Hailey, Adam and baby Jack! Kenny injured himself at the annual Turkey Bowl that morning, pulled calf muscle so the boys had to step in! We had a great day....So much fun that Lily and Hailey didn't want it to end and so they had their first sleepover.....and didn't sleep at all!

I'm going back to BYU to finish my degree (finally after 25 years!) and one of the classes I have to take is Statistics! Much rather would be in Northern Baroque Art but instead I am hanging out in the statistic lab asking really young people how to solve statistic problems! After thinking I was the oldest person on campus I did see a lady who was definitely a grandma, which i am not yet! Even though it is hard I am very grateful for this opportunity to be able to finish something i started long ago! So here are the Follett Stats for September!

Kelsi and Stephen 99.999% still the most in love newlyweds I have ever seen, working hard with school, work and they come over every Sunday Evening! It is awesome to have married children, we just love them!

Ashley-25% competing for Utah State University Gymnastics team, she made the Beam lineup and will be the starter(that's a baseball term not a gymnast term but it works for us folletts) Ashley is loving USU, she is loving having a cousin (spencer) up there with her and not just because he has a car and even though he became a true aggie before her! She loves her roomate Susie and is doing well is school, not too stressed out about 77%, which is good for ashley, this is her in study hall which all the athletes have to log in time each week!

Nick-30% school, 60% football 10% work.....notice 0% time for girls! I love football season! He is doing great, and started off the season as one of the linebackers but now they need him on defensive line which is interesting!

Jackson is about 50% school...Thinks Junior High is really cool! 30% church friends, scouts, calling, temple baptisms, and 20% soccer, new team and is struggling to make his mark but he will!

Emma 82% loves her new teacher, 86% loves dance class and choir, 98% loves to drive her brother nuts!

Lily-75% is cleaning or organizing something! 86% playing hard non stop moving! 2% sleeps

Kenny 100% done with Woodbadge Requirements! congrats for all the hard work! Got to celebrate with ceremony and family with his mom in town!

My hand is still 90% swollen and i am about 65% left handed now!....lots of medical tests and the Dr's are 100% sure none of them know what is wrong!!!!! look how fat my fingers are! i can't open or close my hand...kenny says i walk around like the bad guy in the Fugitive with the prosthetic hand....not funny!

My stats professor would be so happy and I can't wait until December for the class to be over!

just dropped off ashley for college! can't believe that im that old to have 2 kids out of the house! we will definetly miss ashley in our home....now i feel very surrounded by boys all of a sudden....lots more burping. farting and survivial shows in our house.....ashley was a nice buffer and i miss her as my enforcer, helper and friend! of course she is excited to be at college and only a couplke of hours away so she can talk her sweet cousin into driving her down when she gets homesick!

Now we are officially Aggie fans....GO USU GYMNASTICS....i guess this is how the gymnastic team gets around campus!

JULY"S jitterbug! and AUGUST'S Awful Spider

if you look closely at wedding pictures emma is kind of absent and pictures that she is in she looks miserable! that is because she got a nasty bug the day before, high fever, couldn't eat, horrible cold sores, one nasty virus! since we had so many wedding guests staying at our house and didn't want the bug to spread we had her sleep in our room! the dr said it was strep but never gave her a culture, just looked at her mouth and it was so bad he gave her an antibiotic. about a week later, i started to feel extremely exhausted! then came the body aches, high fever, sore throat....went to dr and my strep culture came back negative. (i dont think emma had it either) he gave me an antibiotic anyway because i had a ear infection and something nasty going on in my mouth. after about a week and a half of being in bed i began getting the cold sores and for about a week i could not eat! i recovered faster from giving birth then from this bug! it completely wiped out my immune system and i was left with several weeks of no energy! i would clean a bathroom, and have to lay down! thank goodness for big kids who can go grocery shopping, cook, and clean! and little kids who take such good care of lily! emma has been amazing! i really did not want lily to get sick so it forced us to get her to sleep in her own bed all night (yeah) and im so glad none of the other kids caught the bug!

i cant say that for kenny! unfortunately he came home from work and suffered through the bug for about a week, missing work which he never does! he had to suffer through the next week being sick, fighting a nasty mucus cough and like 4 days of non-stop hiccups at work! we were a mess!

the biggest bummer is that because he missed so much work, and how this bug leaves you with no energy, he had to miss the 50 miler he was planning on going with nick and jack! he was so bummed! he did go up one day and met up with them and had a great time! ......pictures of boys coming home from 50 mier! he did go up half way through the week with some other members of our ward to cook the scouts some hamburgers after eating backpacking meals for a few days it was very appreciative!

so just as im feeling kind of normal i woke up with my wrist feeling funny...almost like i slept on it wrong...as the day wore on it got worst...the next day my whole hand was sore and in pain...i have had arthritas before in my wrist from a car accident many years ago but it would always flare up when the weather turned cold so this was different. i began to ice it, take advil but no relief from anything. the pain got so bad i had to go to ER...my hand was completely swollen and hot to touch! the dr looked at sun spot i had and saw a dark spot in the middle and said it looked like i was bit by a spider and gave me an antibiotic...2 days later, no change except more pain....no sleep because it is to painful at night to sleep even with kenny's stash of vicadin!....back to dr and they took some blood work to see what i wrong...another week off my life! blood tests came back...not rheumatoid arthritis or gout, and other blood work normal! so its been 3 weeks of not being able to use my right hand! Our summer has been quite boring for the kids but they have been a great help to me!

What a blessing it is to be healthy and how often we take it for granted! can't wait to feel normal and be able to clean my house!

This is my mom's sister and my cousin Lori who came from CA.....it meant so much to me to have them there....i really missed my mom through this whole wedding experience and having my aunt marilyn, lori and my mom's cousins (next picture) there was so great, I really felt my mom there because they came! It was one of those tender mercies for me!

And these ladies are just a few of really great women who helped me with the wedding...it still makes me tear up when I think how hard they worked and I have only known them for a few short months! AMAZING! they are on my all time favorite list!

She has flirted with TWU.....and Alaska....went on a recruiting trip to Utah State and BYU......and after much debate and tears and prayers.....Ashley announced her decision at Regionals......

She loved the campus, she loved the feeling of Logan and it being a small town feel who takes care of it's atheletes, she loved the local dairy who supplies free milk(chocolate, strawberry or rootbeer) for their atheletes and loved that she will be one of 6 freshmen on the gymnastic team all living together! I think she loved the tradition of becoming a "true aggie"....(kiss someone on a full moon on top of old main)

I guess we all need to open our hearts and become an AGGIE FAN now!

All the Schools here do a "Dance Festival" at the end of the year! each grade works on a dance and then performs for all the parents.....jackson did a phillipine jumprope and emma did a medley to music from the 70's and 80's!

The sun finally came out in Utah County and the kids started enjoying the Park!

Do you remember how hard it is to date when you are engaged? don't want to spend money...cause you need it when your married....so you hang out at home with your family who is very obnoxious...especially with 5 younger brothers and sisters of all ages! poor stephen and kelsi!

Happy Birthday Lily! 4 Years Old!

I have never had another kid so excited for her birthday...Lily has been talking about her birthday for the past 6 months....everytime she saw something at the store she would say "Mom, can I have this for my birthday?" And for the past 2 months that is all she talked about and finally the day has arrived! Happy Birthday Lily!

Princess Party...all princesses were invited to lily's castle with pink carpet rolling down the hallway and the trumpet being blown everytime a princess came....Her servant Kelsi painted princess masks on all guests and her servant Ashley painted their nails. Lily's sorcerer, Emma helped the little princess find a dress and accessories for the party! After dress up they danced, then then sat down for a real tea party with cookies and punch, followed by cake.....the little princesses then played "pin the tiera on princess lily" and then opened presents! Too much fun!.....(Check out Kelsi in the King's costume!)

Seminary Graduation

Years of Seminary....3 years of early morning and 1 year of release time.....WOW! Just have to thank all the seminary teachers of ashley's! You were so instrumental in helping her testimony to grow and her love for the scriptures have become such an important part of her life! She never misses a day reading her scriptures and I am often "schooled" by her in that respect! For Example......She had a Gymnastic meet this year in Logan but it was at 8:00 in the morning so we thought we would drive up late the night before and stay with Aunt Kay and Uncle Rick in Tremonton so we didn't have to get up so early....we stayed up late visiting and I was exhausted when we woke up early the next morning to get ready. I was wo touched when I walked in her room to make her bed, there was her Book of Mormon on the floor! Even though she needed her sleep and had to get up early in the morning to compete it was more important for her to not miss a day and read her scriptures before she went to bed! Hence I was "Schooled" by ashley!

Ashley threw a fun shower for kelsi on this weekend....to help Kelsi stock her pantry, and fill her recipe box and asked Stephen a whole bunch of questions about his likes and dislikes in the kitchen and then kelsi had to quess what he said...she did pretty well and got about half right! It was lots of fun!

Had a ton of fun in CA with family.....going to the beach and downtown disney.....Ashley competed at Regionals but did not have her best meet...received her high score on bars for the year and we are very proud of her!

Kelsi is engaged!

Kelsi decided to come live at home this semester to save money for a mission....went to the singles ward here in the East American Fork Stake and fell in love! They dated and spent alot of time on our couch...emma has nicknamed it the "cuddle couch" and just simply fell in love! His name is Stephen Swensen, grew up in American Fork, served a mission in Russia, has a drafting degree and a job! He is also working on a degree at UVU in political science and then has plans to attend law school. He plays the piano, sings and is just smitten with Kelsi! We are all very happy for both of them! He took her to the temple yesterday (perfect timing after Elder Scott's talk) and walked her around the temple, with roses waiting on a bench, he got down on one knee and proposed! Of course she said "YES!"

They plan to be sealed in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple on June 30th!

Nick at Prom

Nick went to prom with his friend Josh....well they both had cute dates! For their day date (a silly utah county tradition) they went rock climbing. Nick's dates mom is from Germany so she made them a traditional German meal for dinner and Nick loved the food! (he always loves the food) Prom was at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course and they had tons of fun!

One blessing moving out of Texas which is a huge gymnastic state is a chance to win a State Championship which is what Ashley did Saturday night! She has struggled this year, being her 1st year as a level 10 but did very well at State despite of a bruised heel she got 2 days before competition which hurt her score on vault and her dismounts and tumbling but she pushed through the pain and competed very well!

It just so happened that Prom was the same night so in between competition and Awards her team mates and coach helped her get ready for prom by doing her hair and make-up! Talk about team support!

Jack got to spend the day at BYU where he was interviewed by judges about his science project and then spent the day in different activities like rock climbing, a flight simulator, rocket launching and all sorts of science fun and a free pizza lunch! He had a great time!

Lily was excited to have Cosmo at the awards ceremony!

And Jackson was awarded a 2nd Place award in life sciences and recieved a $25.00 cash award!

He was also 1 of 24 kids who were selected to move on to a National Competition and if selected for that will have a chance to go to Washington DC!

Will You Go To Prom With Me Ashley?

Ashley has become smitten with a local cowboy here in American Fork. Yes there are actually more cowboys here than in TEXAS! Anyways he was asked to Prom in a big way! Her friend painted a huge sign and staked it to some hay bales on a huge semi truck and then drove in front of the school when school was letting out! Everyone was talking about it and taking pictures, she said it was so cool! The funniest part was later that night we were driving Nick and a friend up to Sundance to do some night snowboarding and she asked him.."Did you hear about that guy who asked a girl to prom with a semi-truck!" We all just started laughing and he said, "Yeah that was my sister!" of course she said yes...the only bummer is that same night is the Utah State Meet so they will have to go late but I know they will have fun!

Family Memorial

Today we had a family memorial to remember my Grandmother....it was one of those sacred moments that bond a family together that I will always treasure and so glad we had a memorial to honor her! I had prepared a eulogy with pictures from her life, all of my kids and Kenny shared memories, feelings or thoughts about grandma which was really special and then Kenny talked about death and resurrection. By the time he was done we all had tears rolling down our faces because of the great feelings of gratitude we felt for our Heavenly Father who had prepared a perfect plan of salvation for us. And we all felt a great love for our Savior who provided the atonement so that plan could work and to know that the "sting of death is swallowed up in Christ."

In tears, Kenny shared this quote from Joseph Smith that I had never heard but thought is was just so beautiful to share to all those who have lost a loved one, what comfort this is..."Would you think it strange if I relate what I have seen in vision in relation to this interesting theme?...So plain was the vision, that I actually saw men, before they had ascended from the tomb, as though they were getting up slowly. They took each other by the hand and said to each other, "my father, my son, my mother, my daughter, my brother, my sister.' And when the voice calls for the dead to arise, suppose I am laid by the side of my father, what would be the first joy of my heart? To meet my father, my mother, my brother, my sister; and when they are by my side, I embrace them and they me."(History of the Church, 5361-62)

I know Kenny read this thinking of his father, me of my mother and all 8 of us thinking of Grandma Grace...(well 7 of us, because Lily just happened to fall asleep right before which made our memorial a little more peaceful and sacred!...Kenny said "I bet Grandma rocked her asleep") We finished it off with a Mostaccioli dinner...it was delicious! I love my family and will treasure that sweet hour that we honored my grandma, we laughed, we cried and most importantly our testimonies grew and our gratitude increased for THE GREAT PLAN OF SALVATION!

My beloved grandma Grace passed away February 20th! She was 90 years old and will be very missed! She was a wonderful grandmother, the best! She was a great example of a Christ-like person! She was full of love and concern for everyone, was always there for me, sent the greatest love notes and was such a blessing to all of us. She was a classy lady and lived true to her name her parents gave her GRACE. We all loved her very much and have such great memories that we will treasure. She was a big part of my kids life as well and they are so sad by her passing. Con Te Partivo means "With You I Will Go" and I feel like a big part of my heart will go with her! Even though I am grateful she is no longer suffering in this world and I know she is in a better place I am so surprised at the grief I have felt! There is a part of me gone now.... I will truly miss her! So thankful for the knowledge of the restored gospel that one day we will be reunited!

Can't believe Ashley is 18! Time goes by so fast! For most of her life it's been all about gymnastics! I know she is not finished with her gymnastic career but when i think of Ashley turning 18 I can't help but think of her commitment and love to this sport and the years she dedicated to it. Here is part of an essay she had to write about her greatest accompishment so far in life.

"Since I was a little girl I have been doing cartwheels down the grocery aisle, flipping on a trampoline and swinging on the bars during recess. My passion for gymnastics has resulted in 6,946 workout hours, 5 gyms, 62 meets, 516 medals, 3 broken bones, 36 gold medals, 1 State Championship, 4 time regional qualifier, and 2 time Junior Olympic Westerns National qualifier. I have always loved competing, and loved developing and trying to perfect new skills. By nature, gymnastics is born out of creativity, if you cannot visualize yourself attaining a skill, then you will certainly fail. The mental side of gymnastics is a defining element that can separate and average gymnast from an extraordinary one. Gymnastics has been a great tool for teaching me determination, tenacity, and how to cope with overcoming fear. Throughout my years of competing, I have been able to learn how to fight through adversity and teach myself how to do things that I never thought were possible."

My friend from Texas sent me this beautiful quilt she made. I was so overwhelmed; it is one of the most beautiful things anyone has ever made me. (Kenny did remind me he made 6 beautiful children!) My friend is not only a very talented woman, but is one of those people who live by the spirit and quietly serves and whom I admire very much. I have lived without a mother for a long time, and every once in awhile someone will do or say something to me that touches my heart in away only my mother could. This was one of those moments for me! For a mother-less daughter these are very sacred and special moments for me and are always accompanied with the Spirit. I’m so grateful for this gift, but even more grateful for the feelings of love that came with it. And grateful for friends who are true disciples of Jesus Christ.

I love my callings in the ward; I teach the 9 year olds in primary and work with the 8 and 9 year old activity day girls! My primary class are the sweetest, and smartest group of 9 year olds in the church and I absolutely love my companion teacher, Sis. Ballard, who I have tremendous respect for and admire her grace, and testimony of the gospel! What a blessing to work with her. I also work with a very talented Sister in Activity Days, she can do it all, cook, sew, sing (all those things I lack!) but I love that the most important thing to her is to help these young girls to have faith in Jesus Christ and to help their testimonies grow! I’m having the best time!

This past week we took the activity girls Christmas Caroling! As we practiced beforehand, we talked about when we sing, we are bearing our testimonies of Jesus Christ. We went to several houses in our ward of families who were not members or those who are not fully participating in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We sang that would bear witness of Jesus Christ, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Picture a Stable in Judea,” “Silent Night,” and we finished with “I Wonder When He Comes again,” which ends with these words, “I'm sure He'll call His little ones together round His knee…. Because He said in days gone by... "Suffer them to come to Me." Each door these girls sang with such a sweet spirit, I couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion because the spirit was so strong. Surely these sweet little ones were bearing their testimonies of Jesus Christ. It was amazing, a highlight of my Christmas Season.

One of the perks of Ashley's new gym is that there is a BOYS TEAM! It took a little getting used to, she would find herself starring over to their side of the gym losing her focus but she soon adjusted! She of course made friends with some, outside of the gym of course! Coaches would kill them if they flirted during workouts! When a girls choice dance came she decided to ask her friend Gabe from the gym....here in Utah everyone asks in a big and unique way so Ashley came up with the idea to ask at gym where she wrote on the big mirror where Gabe and the rest of the Boys Team were sure to see it!...."I'll Be Brief....Gabe Pref?" and hung little boys briefs (sponge bob) on the the mirror!

She was very surprised when he actually put on the briefs and wrote Yes on a post-it note stuck to the back. Too Funny not to share the pictures!

Another tradition here in Utah Valley is a "Pre-date"....Ashley, Gabe and a bunch of friends went played paintball the night before at midnight in a friends backyard! Thankfully her cousin Stuart(future marine) had great paintball hardware and they had lots of fun!

Ashley had lots of fun at homecoming....she was asked by two different boys in about 10 minutes of each other and had to choose which was very stressful for her...she ended up choosing the one who asked her by playing a song on his guitar! Amazing ward activity, last night was the hay ride, square dancing, and dutch oven cook off! Today we started with a 5k run, and then a parade...here is a picture of Jackson and emma in the parade! (emma's activity day group was "I love NY")

Then the rodeo began.... here is lily getting ready for the chicken run (ages 7 and under) lily got into the arena but then "chickened out"

Youth of the ward participated in the "Cash Cow" (chased a big cow around with dollar bills taped to her) Nick showed his texan colors and cornered the cow and then she turned on him and he almost got trampled on! he managed to grab some cash though!

Next was the Mutton Bustin' which emma was amazing! First to be brave enough to do it and second she rode that sheep for about 9 seconds, got first place! Go Emma!

Jack was next and he got on a very fiesty calf....he lasted about 1 second and got tossed and then stepped on...his ride was to fast for us to get a picture but we got a before and after!

Kenny even got asked to be on one of the milking teams, they had to lasso the cow and then hold them still so they could be milked! he looks a little out of place!

Our view off the balcony is very pretty, we look over a horse ranch. Only bad thing is we seem to have lots of flies!

We made it to Utah....pretty easy car ride with only three kids....it has been along time since we traveled with less than 5 kids!

Trek-The weekend we moved our stake was taking the youth on a pioneer trek to Martin's Cove in Wyoming. When I heard this I knew Ashley and Nick had to go...not really wanting to go because they did not know anyone...I finally said "you have to go." Ashley felt a little better after going to church the Sunday before, and Nick is pretty good about rolling with the punches so off they went to trek. Needless to say they had a great time, the youth of our new ward are amazing and of course how could you not feel the spirit in that sacred place! When they got home late Saturday Night we picked them up and they could not stop talking about how much fun they had!

New Ward-We have felt very welcomed here in American Fork 37th ward, the youth are amazing which only reflects on the families in this ward. It has a wide range of members of all ages which I love, and we are looking forward to our ward Rodeo in a couple of weeks. You get to know people in your ward alot faster here in Utah because they all live on your streeet!~Ashley has already given a talk!

House- I love our house, kenny did a good job picking it out. It is a little smaller but we have made it work and are very grateful to be together again after 3 months apart. Mt.Timponogas Temple is around the corner, it sits on a little hill so when you drive toward our house it looks like you are driving to the temple, my kids see the temple daily and I love that! What a great reminder for them...I am very close to schools, and walmart and of course church is around the corner.

High School-Mascot is the Cavemen! Nick couldn't be happier about that he already lives like one! He is playing football, right now he is playing middle linebacker and is exhausted everyday with two practices!(mom's stragedy) Their motto is "defend the cave!" He is very happily surprised there is lot's of cute girls here in Utah. Ashley is looking forward to starting her Senior year and her social life is very busy hanging out with girls from gym...she has found there is lots of fun stuff to do here and utah is a great treat place!(snow cones everywhere)

Elementary School-jackson and emma are excited about school just registered them and they got a tour of their school...there is a park close enough for them to go and play at and they are always there playing with neighbor kids. Jackson and nick's new thing is a long board! very popular here in Utah.

We have only lived here for a few weeks and have already seen so many of our friends and family it is wonderful! First our great friend Susie came to visit us who we love and is just amazing...Then we got a few hours with one of our favorite families the Sorensen's...so fun to see them and catch up....and then my sister Katie came up with her family for a week and we had so much fun! Nick's newest injury! HYPHEMA

HYPHEMA-Blood in the front of the eye usually caused by trauma to the eye.

Nick's injury occurred while playing Ping Pong with his best friend Joe....Joe must have a wicked serve to hit the ping pong ball so fast and hard that Nick had no time to react and the ball hit him square in the eye, causing a great deal of pain and total loss of vision(because blood had filled up in front of his eye his one eye was way darker than the other).....after spending 6 hours in 2 different ER's and coming home with a not so cool eye patch and way cool old man glasses, Nick was digosed with HYPHEMA....the Opthomolgist met us at his office on Saturday and said in twenty years of practice he had never heard of this injury happening with a ping pong ball....so unusual he wanted to publish it! Normal eye pressure is about a 12-15, Nick's was at 38 in the office....He was given about 5 different eye drops to use and was told he had to be on bed rest for 7-10 days because any sudden movement could cause further damage to eye.(blood getting into retina) Total bummer for Nick because he had to miss High Adventure! Total Bummer for me because i was stuck with cleaning pool and mowing lawn! Nick was a great patient and had a very good outlook on his bed rest! Of course what teenage boy would not just love to sit on couch all day and watch tv while your mom mowed the lawn!

Missouri

Ashley's national meet was in Iowa this year and so we decided to make the most of it and see some local church history sites! Our trip started with a quick stay in Wichita, Kansas and then our first stop was in Independence, Missouri!

Temple plot laid by Joseph Smith in 1831, the kids are standing on each cornerstone with Lily in the middle! The Community of Christ temple (RLDS) is seen in the background, the kids called it the "tower of doom," "great and spacious building," and the "evil temple"...

Lily is at a great age and we all really enjoy her. She has become very attached to these rubberband bracelets that nick and ashley came home from school with! When you take them off and stretch them out they form a shape of an animal. Had to get this on tape, lily has not taken these off for at least three weeks and she wears like 20 of them. Interiew~ In her interview with the Bishop, he asked if the Mayor of Flower Mound or Rick Perry could baptize her....she said, "First of all the Mayor of Flower Mound is a girl, and girls do not hold the priesthood!" Later in the interview he asked if any of her family was coming for her baptism and she responded, "No, they are all going to be sitting on their couches while I'm doing something important!"

Surprise Guest~Kelsi flew in Saturday morning to surprise Emma (see video) Kelsi's flight was suppose to leave at 6 am in Salt Lake but she called home at 5:45am saying, "mom southwest does not have a ticket for me!" I said, Kelsi you are flying American Airlines!" She ran as fast as she could to catch her flight but missed it by one minute! luckily she got on a 8:20 flight and made it to dallas about thirty minutes before the baptism!

Lily's Announcement~Kelsi gave a great talk about baptism and Ashley spoke on the Holy Ghost. At the end of Ashley's talk she told Emma how proud she was of her and said she was being an example to Lily who wants to get baptized now. Lily did not like this and after Ashley sat down, Lily walked over to Ashley and as loud as she could in front of everyone there announced, "Ashee, I am not going to be baptized!"

We had the Elder's over for dinner the other night. Elder Ingalls served in the Marine Corp before his mission and when the subject of Nick's hair came up and how it's a struggle to have him keep it short! When Jackson was born Nick, who found a picture of a teddy bear in the name book would only call him "teddy" for the first few months and would get upset if we called the baby Jackson. I don't know what is worse, nick's dinosaur jammies or the wall paper!
