Eagle Scout Jackson

Jackson's Eagle Cour of Honor

Eagle Scout!!

“As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad
her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings.” Deuteronomy 32:11

Jackson's YM leader Bro Kasperson, gave a great analogy of Mother Eagles on the cliff's of Mount Sinai teach their young how to fly. They nestle them up on their backs fly high above the cliffs and then turn just enough where the baby eagle will fall off and start tumbling to the ground.  While the fall is dangerous and hard on the baby eagle this is how they gain strength and become strong enough to fly.  He explained it is very similar to achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, it is hard earning those merit badges and doing the many hours of service but through working hard eventually the scout becomes a stronger better young man and is ready to fly.
Jackson choose to give the mentor pin to his dad!  It was a sweet moment for
the both of them when Jackson got very emotional about how much he loves his dad!
Tried to get a picture of the tears but failed!

Belle Valory Swensen

We became grandparents!  Belle Valory Swensen was born May 27, 2013, 6.15 lbs, 18 inches long.
Kelsi had some trouble giving birth so it was a long process.  She had been induced in the morning and was not making any progress so they took her caesarian and she was born finally at 6:09pm.  She was a beautiful baby and started nursing right away.  We just immediately fell in love with her and none of us got enough time holding her cause it was a real Follett fight who would hold her next! (especially Lily)  She is very little, and very cute!  She was born with craniosynostosis which is basically her skull was already fused together, hence no soft spot to go through the birth canal and so the reason she could not go natural.  You can read all about the condition on Kelsi's blog http://the-swensen-family.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Surgery is scheduled in June....
