Refinishing Grandma Carolyn's Dining Room Table!

I believe Grandma Grace bought this for mom and dad in 1986 so that would make this table like 23 years old! WOW, it has been a great table, of course when it was mom's we hardly used it at all only on Christmas and Thanksgiving and it sat beautifully in her Gourgeous Dining Room to be admired. I still remember when i was home from college one break and decided to paint my toenails on the table, boy she got upset. After mom died it survived in a pretty dining room setting for about another 8 years, in great condition and the cushions only being replaced with a handy staple gun!

Then came New Mexico which had no Dining Room and the beautiful table became the kitchen table of six hungry, messy children and after four moves, three different cushion styles the table quickly became a source of frustration for mom who could not keep it looking nice. It was a table that no matter how much you wiped it off your arms would still stick to the table. So after much pleading I finally convinced Kenny we could refinish it. So he decided to take a week of work thinking we could get it done in that week, but did not figure that his "Honey Do List" would become very long after I found out he was going to take a week off!

We all worked together, kids helped take cushions off, all helped sand the table and chairs which took several days, we painted it first with primer and then with black paint. It seemed to be a never ending project but finally we finished! and after two weeks without a Kitchen table I have one that looks brand new! at least for me!

Here is the Before Picture
